D’Arcy Kemnitz brings more than two decades of non-profit and social justice experience to her presentation. She dedicated more than 20 years to building her former organization, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. Under her leadership, the Bar became the largest and most recognized organization of LGBTQ+ legal professionals in the country. In addition to orchestrating a coalition of more than 50 local, state, and regional LGBTQ+ bar associations, and dozens of LGBTQ+ law student associations. D’Arcy oversaw the phenomenal growth of the annual “Lavender Law” Conference and Career Fair beginning with a few hundred attendees in the 1990s, and culminatimg in last year’s total attendance of more than 1,900 law students, practitioners, professors and judges.
D’Arcy is a frequently quoted expert on LGBTQ+ legal issues, appearing in media outlets including The ABA Journal, ABC News, Time Magazine, and others. She is a distinguished graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Hamline University School of Law. She has experience speaking on a number of issues related to LGBTQ+ rights and the law and is available to speak at future events.
